Scouts’ Assault Course

Before the rain set in yesterday we put the scouts through their paces on the assault course.
Star performer was Ieuan, beating the earlier best by Lucas (1:18) by a clear 9 seconds at 1:09. In Ieuan’s words “I’m dead now”! He was exhausted. Here is a selection of photos, more will appear when we are back.

Wet in the West

This afternoon our intrepid scouts pursued orienteering but the rain eventually beat them back by eating their score cards. Good spirits all round, well, mostly.

It’s Dinner time

We’re having baked potatoes cooked in ovens on a wood fire. Panic stations as we opened one oven to what looked like charcoal stones, but opening one up are the perfectly cooked spuds. Just waiting for bangers and beans, followed by trifle. Camp life!

Scout camp day 3

it seems they are exhausted from their first full day. It’s nearly 7am and not a scout in sight! Well, we’ll see about that with our usual bell ringing alarm call.
Today we’re off on a hike, The Cornwall 18.  That’s what we’re calling it. 18 kilometres of walking on the moor. It’ll be an easy route to challenge their map …

Scout Camp Day 2 roundup

Camp is all about being on camp, of course, and today there was no rushing off to that exciting activity some 30 miles away, or making a packed lunch.
Today we made use of on site activities, zip wire and pedal karts.
The zip wire was great fun and scouts found numerous ways of performing different descents, including swan dives, superman, airplane, …

Camp – day 2

We have woken to a glorious day, overcast with the odd spit of rain but not enough to dampen our spirits and the sun is forecast to come out and put its hat on.
Everyone slept as well as can be expected, we’ve breakfasted and are now getting ready for activities.
Later we hope to have some news by some scouts.

Summer Camp 2015

So the summer may have started, and it’s raining outside, but there are now just¬†5 days till we set off for camp.
The gear is ready for packing, except we can’t find the coffee pot, and that will be disastrous as it was left to us by our American Scout friends at last year’s camp. Kit bags still to pack? That’s …
