On our way back!!

Well after being woken by the bell and running round packing up the tents we had some cereal and pastries and set off for Aberdeen to catch the train. We made it in plenty time. We have just reached Newcastle, all fed and eager to get home!!

Blog? What blog?

Ok, so everyone was promised updates while camp was underway, and what did you get, but a few measly morsels. Unfortunately there was next to no internet in Aboyne and surrounding area, and trips to find WiFi we’re not practical.
So now we’re back in range we’ll share what we’ve captured.

Camp is over

Typically the last night of camp is a wet one and the final packing away was done in the rain.
Scouts and cubs departed camp on time at 8.30 this morning, having been rudely awoken by two bell rings at 6am and the kit left at 9.15. The rain continues as the minibus and trailer make their way down the M74 …

By Sam & George

The journey to Aboyne is a long one, 7 hours on a train to Aberdeen and then an hour on the coach to the campsite.
This morning at Kings cross was a little hectic, meeting outside Starbucks at 9:30 in the morning to catch the train at 10:00, we were split into groups to get on the train 😀

One Week till Camp

Last few days now to get ready…
Things you mustn’t forget to bring to camp:
Bug spray – to keep the midges off
Water bottle – take with you on activities to keep hydrated
Kit Bag – on Sunday, deliver to Gordon Hall between 10 and 11
And last of all
Yourself, packed with excitement!
Don’t forget, 9.30 at Kings Cross.

Making ready for Camp

Just 10 days now till camp and this morning all the equipment was brought together ready for packing. Tents, pots, stoves – it will be a squeeze to get it all in the bus and trailer, that’s next weekend.
Thanks to leaders and scouts for helping.

A Poem for Camp

Tick Tock Tick Tock…
Camp departure is just
two weeks hence, and
forms have been filled.
Tees are ordered, what
a variety of sizes.
Tents are repaired soon
to be collected, food
to be ordered – thank
goodness Tesco delivers, every
day! Activities nearly finalised,
you’re all so tall,
so short, short legged!
Some say heat wave,
we’ll do a Mexican
wave, on the beach,
bring wellies and waterproofs,
just in case. Troop
13 arrive in 10
days, we …

3 Weeks to go….

It’s 10 am and the train begins to pull away from the platform smoothly and imperceptibly, not that the scouts would notice because they are all too excited about the journey. Some have already pulled their packs of sandwiches out from their bags and beginning to scoff away – not caring that they have 7 hours ahead of them in …
